Parathyroid Disease
The sole purpose of the parathyroid glands is to regulate the calcium level in our bodies within a very narrow range so that the nervous and muscular systems may function properly. The single major disease of parathyroid glands is the overactivity of one or more of the parathyroids.
The most common situation we see is that one of the parathyroid glands has developed a tumor that is secreting the entire hormone.
Osteoporosis
As estrogen levels drop, your body’s ability to make new bone drops as well. This process may eventually cause a significant loss of bone mass or density, resulting in osteoporosis. If you have osteoporosis, your bones are weak and prone to fracture.
