Rachel Bengtson, PA-C, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Gerontology from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth before completing her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at South College in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her clinical rotations provided extensive hands-on experience caring for patients with a wide range of endocrine and metabolic disorders. Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, she spent over four years working as an EMT, building a strong foundation in patient care, communication, and advocacy.
Rachel’s clinical interests span all aspects of endocrinology, with particular interests in women’s hormonal health, including PCOS, perimenopause, and menopause, as well as autoimmune endocrine disorders, especially thyroid disease. She also has a strong interest in metabolic health, weight management, osteoporosis care, and diabetes management. Rachel has a special interest in emerging diabetes technology, including insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, and evolving therapies designed to improve outcomes while reducing the daily burden of disease management.
Her approach to care combines evidence-based medicine with a holistic perspective focused on prevention, long-term wellness, and individualized treatment plans that support each patient’s lifestyle, goals, and overall well-being.
Rachel and her husband, Hans, live in Summerville, South Carolina, with their German Shepherd, Kojak. Outside of work, they enjoy spending time at the beach, exploring Charleston’s food scene, and discovering everything the Lowcountry has to offer.
